A new website

So, I may have set up a new website for myself.

There’s a couple different reasons why I did this:

  1. My original website was quite complicated and big, to the point of being overwhelming for me whenever I tried to work on it or change things around;
  2. I wanted to grab my own domain name to put the website under, so this was a good excuse to redo things;
  3. I wanted a more… simplistic design, I guess? Don’t get me wrong, I love the creative layouts people in the web revival space have made, but I love more simple designs as well; and
  4. I didn’t want to code my layout from scratch again.

So, I found this starter for the 11ty/Eleventy static site generator called Eleventy Excellent, and it works perfectly for what I wanted! I’ve made a few tweaks here and there to add stuff like a page for my art, a now page, all of that fun stuff, but I likely won’t tweak the core design or layout very much beyond fiddling with color schemes and fonts.

In addition, I probably will be keeping the structure of the site quite simple, so it’s easier for me to work on and doesn’t end up overwhelming me. Mostly, I just kind of want a place to blog, put my art, and share stuff that interests me. It doesn’t need to be very complicated beyond that.

Anyways, we’ll see how this ends up working out!
